A care home in London has become the first in the UK to close over the coronavirus crisis. Residents at Friary Lodge in Barnet were ordered to leave by the end of the month in a letter sent out by management.
In the letter, the care home said: "It is no longer possible to provide you with care and support that you need because of ongoing staffing issues and operational difficulties due to Covid-19." The home says it is temporarily closing, and residents are already being moved out to alternative accommodation.
One resident, Mary Masters is 91 years old. Her daughter Susan told ITV News her "biggest concern" was she could lose her mother due to the disruption. "She's very sad, she liked that care home," she said.
