Ellen DeGeneres is finally speaking directly to all of the rumors of workplace toxicity, as well as rumors about her personal behavior, including that she refuses to let subordinates make eye contact with her.

This video is from the season 18 premiere of her talk show, airing later today on NBC. “As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show.

And then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened…I take that very seriously.

I’m so sorry to the people who were effected,” Ellen began. “I know that I am in a position of privilege and power.
