The Championship season will resume on June 20 - providing a further boost to football fans. The EFL said the date was "provisional" and "subject to the strict proviso that all safety requirements and government guidance is met".

But the hope is that games will start again in just under three weeks time - more than three months after the season was suspended due to Covid-19.

There are 108 matches remaining, plus the play-off semi-finals and final, with all of them taking place behind closed doors.

No Championship fixtures have been played since March 8 - and the news comes just a few days after it was revealed the Premier League will return on June 17.
