A bid to build an eco-home and forest school on an Egerton farm next to footballer Kevin Davies’ former family home has been thrown out again – this time by a government-appointed inspector.
The zero-carbon scheme at Higher Critchley Fold Barn has been the dream of David Norris, who has asked Bolton Council five times for planning permission to build a house on the land which he acquired five years ago.
Now, planning inspector Brendan Lyons has dismissed an appeal by Mr Norris, who wanted to overturn a decision by the local authority back in October 2018.
Mr Lyons ruled that the proposed development does not meet the very special circumstances required to build on green belt land.
