Ebanie Bridges has backed boxing rival Shannon Courtenay after she was “fat-shamed” on social media.Courtenay was on commentary for DAZN as Bridges claimed her first world title against Maria Cecilia Roman over the weekend, but received horrible comments over her apparent “weight gain” by Twitter trolls. The Brit and Bridges shared some bad blood from their fight back in April 2021 where they talked trash in the build-up, before Courtenay left her opponent’s eye severely bruised with an alleged headbutt on her way to clinching the title.
But Bridges still took to Twitter to defend her rival against criticism. The Blonde Bomber wrote: “I want to address the public fat shaming of my mate Shanny. “As much as we have bad blood, I understand we as fighters most often do not walk around at our fight weights.
We all get 'fat' out of camp. The only time I will talk about her weight is when [she] misses weight on the scales.”Fans applauded the new IBF bantamweight champion for her “classy” response, with one replying: “Respect to EB on this one. Would you like to see Ebanie Bridges fight Shannon Courtenay again?
Let us know in the comments section.“Cuz let’s be honest most non-fighters are a little too 'fat' ourselves and could stand to be in better shape.
