Ebanie Bridges has been crowned the new world champion after defeating Maria Cecilia Roman on points after 10 rounds.The Australian challenger came out strong and dominated the reigning Argentine champion early on to clinch the IBF Bantamweight title.

She demonstrated incredible work-rate by constantly keeping up the pressure to defeat her more technically sound opponent.Bridges showed drastic improvement since her world title fight defeat to Shannon Courtenay by unanimous decision in April last year.

And she was rewarded with the three judges convincingly awarding her the win with an outstanding score of 100-91, 97-93 and 97-93 in the 20-minute contest.The Blonde Bomber displayed unrelenting spirit despite tiring from the midway point of the fight.

Roman's excellent defence thwarted the majority of her powerful hook and uppercut combos, but Bridges was able to land enough to sway the judges.Roman had threatened to turn the tide in the fourth round and the champion's corner attempted to rouse the Argentine for the second half of the bout.
