Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants who have had their award extended because of the coronavirus pandemic have still not been officially informed.
Benefits and Work reports that Justin Tomlinson, Minister for Disabled People, confirmed on Tuesday that “over 1.6 million PIP claimants have had their award extended - but of these, only 756,000 have so far been told.” The free, independent benefits advice website added: “The other 850,000 claimants will be notified of their new award end date ‘early 2021’.” The majority of new PIP claimants are receiving an award of two years or less.
