Sign up for our What's On newsletter to keep your finger on the pulse of an ever-changing Manchester Download Festival has been chosen to host a Government pilot event next month, with no social distancing required.
The massive rock festival will be resurrected as scientists continue to examine how Covid-19 transmission works in crowds. Capacity at the event will be reduced from its usual 111,000 down to 10,000, and the usual five day camping reduced to three days.
The pilot event will take place between June 18 and 20 at its usual home of Donington Park in Leicestershire. Organisers said it sounds 'completely mental' to be able to go ahead with their much-loved event, albeit on a smaller scale.
