On July 15, 1997, iconic fashion designer Gianni Versace was fatally shot in Miami, Florida by serial killer Andrew Cunanan.

His violent death sent shockwaves around the world, with celebrities and public figures such as supermodel Naomi Campbell and royal icon Princess Diana among the famous faces who mourned the Italian fashion god.

Two of those most affected by the assassination were Gianni's beloved sister Donatella Versace and his own boyfriend Antonio D'Amico.

Gianni and Antonio had first got together in 1986 and remained a couple for over a decade prior to his murder, living in both Milan and Miami together.
