Dominic Cummings has doubled down on his claim the Government planned a ‘herd immunity’ strategy to allow Covid-19. He claimed there had been “panic” at the top of Government about the use of the phrase, fearing it would be a “comms disaster” - so it was “ditched and shifted to plan B - suppression.” Ministers and officials have today denied it had been official strategy to allow the virus to spread through the population, in the hope enough people would gain immunity to prevent a second spike in the Winter.
