If your dog won't come out of his room, and has started grunting instead of barking, you may be dealing with a moody teenager.
A new study has revealed that canines go through their own form of puberty blues, similar to human beings. Just like an eye-rolling 15-year-old, dogs become less responsive to instructions from their owner during adolescence, which typically lasts from when they're six to 18 months of age.
And if their relationship with their human carer is already shaky or insecure, they'll likely act out even more in order to test their bond. "Generally teenagers that have a less secure relationship with their parents are those that are more likely to show more conflict behaviour towards their parents," Dr Lucy Asher, co-author
