Docs give Coronavirus patient birthday cake as he turns 100 and tell him he's beaten killer bug

A coronavirus survivor was presented with a birthday cake by doctors on his 100th birthday – before being given the fantastic news that he had beaten the deadly virus.

Image show medics in full protective gear presenting the Portuguese centenarian with the gift and better still the news of his return to health.

They also made balloons out of medical gloves to celebrate. The heartwarming images were taken in the University Hospital Centre of Sao Joao in the city of Porto in northern Portugal where Luciano Marques da Silva was first taken on March 24.

The man's daughter Maria Jose, 61, had called an ambulance for her father as he "at first had a dry cough, then with lots of sputum and he started to get a fever which would not go away”.
