Royal Ascot will go ahead as planned after passing a 12:45pm inspection. It had been feared the Berkshire track would be waterlogged following a deluge of rain overnight.

A total of 26mm of rain has fallen since racing on Thursday, which prompted a precautionary afternoon inspection. From good-to-firm ground 24 hours ago, the going was updated to soft, heavy in places just after 11am this morning.

Despite more heavy rain and a long inspection which lasted over 40 minutes, the course was deemed fit for racing. Course officials, Aidan O'Brien, Frankie Dettori and Oisin Murphy are among those who took a look at the track.
