Dan Walker tells co-host Sally Nugent he 'loves her to bits' as he quits BBC Breakfast

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker has told Sally Nugent he loves her to bits following the news that he's quit the programme.The 45-year-old presenter announced on Monday (April 4) that he's leaving the show after six years.He will join Channel 5 News later this year but was back on our screens on Tuesday morning (April 5) alongside Sally Nugent.She brought up Dan's shock announcement and he went on to explain his decision.He told BBC One viewers: "I did announce yesterday that i'll be leaving the wonderful red sofa in a few weeks time.Sally jokingly replied: "You're leaving me."Dan cheekily continued: "As you know, Sally I find you very difficult to get on with, I don't like Carol [Kirkwoood] and it's my chance to get out."He giggled before adding: "No, that's not true."Sally said: "We've been friends for 20 years and worked together for six months and you're off.He explained: "As you know before all this news came out this has been the hardest decision in my career.

You know i love you to bits and the BBC Breakfast team."Sally interjected: "I love you to Daniel."Dan went on to reveal that he's "never been motivated by money" for his job and that moving to Channel 5 will also open more doors.He went on to thank viewers for their lovely messages and paid a sweet tribute to his "great friend" Sally.Dan will replace Sian Williams as the Channel 5 news anchor, who recently announced she was leaving.She also made the move across from the BBC Breakfast sofa to Channel 5 in 2016.
