Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has revealed to the BBC that either FA Cup semi-final on 17 or 18 April will be part of the trial programme, with the government aiming to bring fans back to sporting events in line with the lifting of COVID restrictions.
City are scheduled to play Chelsea on Saturday, 17 April, while Leicester v Southampton will take centre stage the following day.
The next stage of easing restrictions, scheduled for 17 May, will allow stadia to open with a 25% capacity limit, up to a maximum of 10,000 spectators.
