Coronation Street star Maureen Lipman has revealed she is determined not to let soap writers water down and soften her character of Evelyn Plummer.
The Corrie legend returned to the show in 2018 playing the role of the no nonsense but fears she's not as edgy as she once was.Speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain with Lorraine Kelly, Maureen said: "Well I think they have been trying to give Evelyn a whole new side for a while but I like the old her."I am not keen on idea of softening her."I think it is a good balance to have someone who can speak her mind."She added: "When you watch the old episodes you watch them and they talk at the speed of the typewriter as it was written on a typewriter, so bring a bit of that back."She is formidable.
