Super League clubs have made the decision to suspend the competition until April 3 amid the Coronavirus pandemic following a meeting in Huddersfield on Monday.
The move will see all levels of the game shut down for the next three weeks, with the RFL and Super League reviewing their position again closer to the provisional start date.
The sport continued to play on at weekend after most others had stopped, with RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer saying it was done in line with Government guidelines.
But that stance has now changed following the Government’s latest announcement that they will not support any mass gatherings in the country.
