Coronavirus rates in Cambuslang continue to increase, as Lanarkshire hospitals near capacity

Cambuslang has been particularly badly affected since January 2, with 37 new cases in Halfway, Hallside and Drumsagard and 35 new cases in Westburn and Newton.

The previous week’s figures had shown Burnhill and Bankhead North as a coronavirus hotspot after 35 people in the neighbourhood tested positive for the virus.That equated to 10.58 cases for every 1000 residents – almost double the rate of the second highest neighbourhood in South Lanarkshire in that period.Those numbers had dropped to 15 new cases for the January 2 to 8 period.The news came as it was revealed that Lanarkshire hospitals are now dealing with more coronavirus patients than at any point in the last year.As of 8am on Monday, 288 people in the county’s hospitals were being.
