Coronavirus is killing 10,000 more people a month than normal and Christmas could only make things worse, a Government expert has warned.
Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter, from the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that while infections had been going down after the second lockdown they were now going back up.
He said coronavirus cases had spiked post-lockdown and warned Brits' behaviour over Christmas could make things worse. "(There are) 350, 400 deaths a day in the UK - that's about 10,000 a month," he said. "And these are real deaths.
