Mechanical engineering teacher Steve Dix had noticed a pupil in his class who was wearing a hoodie had his head down on the table for a quarter of an hour.
When Mr Dix tried to wake the teenager by calling his name there was no response, prompting him to “lob” a piece of cardboard at the student who sat up straight away.
At an employment tribunal this week it was heard that “bleary eyed” teenage boy told his guardian about the incident when he went home.
