A Coatbridge priest brought holy mass to a television audience of thousands as the Easter liturgy was brought directly into worshippers’ homes during social distancing.Father Michael Kane was filmed as he celebrated mass at an empty St Augustine’s Church, assisted by parish deacon David Harper – with the broadcast then being shown on BBC Scotland on Easter Sunday.Hundreds of parishioners and many others from around the country and even further afield have since sent messages praising the mass and being able to share in the act of worship; as well as showing their appreciation for the church’s beautiful surroundings.It was the latest way in which the church has helped reach out to the local and wider community during the coronavirus
