Chelsea have reportedly turned their attentions to Lyon forward Moussa Dembele amid Timo Werner’s likely move to Liverpool. The Reds are believed to have stepped up their interests in signing the German, who has a release clause in his RB Leipzig contract making him available for around £50m.
Chelsea were monitoring Werner ahead of a potential summer move but it now seems they have admitted defeat. And according to The Athletic they could now turn all their focus on French striker Dembele, who has had an impressive campaign with Lyon.
Despite the French side’s struggles this season he has netted 16 times in 27 Ligue 1 appearances. Frank Lampard was keen on bringing in another striker in January with Dembele said to be top of the list.
