Kai Havertz will become the most expensive German player of all time should he complete his move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea.
The two clubs have been in negotiations since the middle of last week as they look to put a package together. Havertz has told Leverkusen that he wants to leave and has asked them to honour his wish following a stellar season in Germany.
Chelsea have been the club most actively pursuing him and could finally land their man, reports Sport BILD. Leroy Sane is currently the most expensive German in history following his recent move from Manchester City to Bayern Munich.
Havertz scored 18 times for a Leverkusen team that made the last eight of the Europa League and finished fifth in the Bundesliga.
