Chelsea are on course for their biggest summer spend ever after finally thrashing out a £90m deal for Kai Havertz. The Blues are expected to have a bid of £72m plus £18m in add-ons accepted by Bayer Leverkusen this week.They are also poised to complete the £50m transfer of Ben Chilwell from Leicester, and the free transfer signing of Thiago Silva from Paris St-Germain.All three deals could be done by the end of the week - and will push Chelsea’s spending to over £220m this summer.That represents the biggest investment ever made by the club in one transfer window.Chelsea spent just over £200m in 2017 but this year’s spend will eclipse that total, and could go even higher if they also manage to bring in a goalkeeper.
