Chelsea missed out on signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly thanks, in part, to one of their own former managers in Rafa Benitez.Koulibaly has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs over the years, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.Despite the strong interest he has stayed loyal to the Serie A club, who reportedly have snubbed transfer offers worth over £100m for their star man in recent years.It now looks more likely that the Senegal international will be granted a move this summer, but it has emerged that he nearly joined Chelsea when Antonio Conte was in charge.Conte, who is now the hot seat at Inter Milan, was a huge fan of Koulibaly but so was Benitez, who convinced Napoli chairman Aurelio.
