Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing Manchester City defender Nathan Ake back to Stamford Bridge this summer. The Blues are on the lookout for central defenders this summer after losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have been linked with several centre-backs in recent weeks, including Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt.
Ake has now emerged as a real possibility, having struggled to make an impact at City. The Guardian reports that he is on Chelsea’s shortlist for centre-back targets and could be lured away from the Etihad this summer. He made just 10 starts in the Premier League last season and was asked to fill in at left-back on occasion.The Netherlands international spent six years as a Chelsea player but made just 17 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2017 due to loan spells with Reading, Watford and Bournemouth.
