Mikel Arteta finally signed the final piece to his Arsenal puzzle earlier this summer by acquiring the services of Gabriel Jesus, much to the disappointment of Chelsea.The Brazilian headed to the Emirates Stadium in a deal worth £45million to spearhead their attack for the upcoming season and beyond.
But it has been revealed by the player's agent it wasn't just the Gunners in the race for the former Manchester City star.Chelsea were linked with the versatile forward previously, but it has now been suggested the Stamford Bridge outfit attempted to hijack the move when talks were drawing to a close.
Obviously, the approach was rebuffed.Speaking to journalist Freddie Paxton, via the Daily Mail, Jesus' agent Marcelo Pettinati said: "Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move.
They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we'd already chosen our new project." Chelsea went on to splash out £50m on another City forward – Raheem Sterling.
