A chef has shared a secret recipe to make an ultimate creamy mashed potato with a simple step – soaking peeled potato skins in warm milk.

Chef Rob Nixon, from Perth, Western Australia, told his fans on his TikTok channel, Nicko's Kitchen, not to throw away the potato skins after peeling and put them in simmering milk.

Hailed as Australia's Gordon Ramsay, Rob explains: "This will allow the flavour of the skin to infuse into the milk." He also recommends to use floury white-flesh potato.

In his video, he cuts the potatoes in half and cooks in lightly seasoned boiling water for 12-15 minutes, or until tender. After that, he drains the potato and pushes them through a potato ricer and then sieves it out for a silky finish.
