An eyewitness living near Chatham Dockside Shopping Centre claimed to have seen a man on a balcony with weapons. A helicopter was also flying above the area.
Kent Police confirmed they had received reports of "a disturbance at a flat in Dock Head Road Chatham", following reports of a man with weapons.
Armed officers were deployed to the scene at around 8.35am. A man in 30s has now been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences, Kent Police said.
