Caroline Flack's mum Christine sparks reinvestigation of Met Police complaint

Love Island star Caroline Flack 's mum Christine claimed that her daughter was treated differently by the Metropolitan Police due to her fame.

The Metropolitan Police have been instructed by a watchdog to re-investigate that element of Christine's complaint two years after Caroline's death.Christine first complained one month after Caroline's death, and in response to her complaint, the force said it was "satisfied" the service provided by the officer who made the decision was "acceptable".Caroline was unhappy with the outcome and asked the watchdog Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to review the case, telling the BBC: "I just want the truth out there.

I know it won’t bring her back but I’ve got to do it for her."A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the BBC that the Independent Office for Police Conduct have instructed them to reinvestigate the aspect of the previous complaint.

Caroline took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40, after learning prosecutors were going to press ahead with an assault charge against her after an incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.Christine told the BBC: "I just want those answers to make me feel better and to make me know that I've done the right thing by Caroline."She also said that she remains "sad and very angry" at the police treatment of her daughter in the time before her death.Christine also said she felt the decision to charge Caroline contributed to her death because she "couldn't see a way out", and Christine no longer has "any trust" in the force.She also added that she believed the Met treated her daughter differently because of her fame.
