Paul Parker believes Manchester United's best solution to their struggles on the pitch is to appoint Ralf Rangnick on a permanent basis.

United are hoping to have a permanent appointment lined up before the end of the season, with Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are among the frontrunners.

Pochettino is the preferred choice of both board and squad, with Rangnick currently set to move upstairs to a consultancy role when his interim coaching contract expires at the end of the season.

Second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes saw 10-man Brighton eventually beaten on Tuesday night, a welcome three points for United after seeing leads lost and points dropped in their two previous games.
