Police are searching for a driver who fled after their car smashed through the brick wall of an ambulance station leaving a "dangerous" hole.

Officers have confirmed they responded to calls about a vehicle that had ploughed into Keynsham Ambulance Station, Bristol at 2.42am this morning.

Dramatic photos posted by Hicks Gate Fire Station on Twitter show a gaping hole in the wall with bricks and rubble scattered across the floor.

The station said that thankfully no staff were near the wall at the time but that occupants had "absconded" when they arrived to help, Bristol Live reports.
