Cambuslang councillor has written to the Scottish Government to demand it does more to kick-start the local economy. The town recently received funding as part of the Government’s New Town Centre scheme, which was allocated by local authorities with the aim of re-purposing town centres to become more diverse, successful and sustainable.In a letter to finance secretary Kate Forbes, Councillor Margaret Walker, who represents Cambuslang West, and Labour list MSP James Kelly argued that Scottish Government cuts to local authority budgets have prevented the council from offering sufficient support, and has urged it to offer financial support to the area.Councillor Walker said: “The work carried out by Cambuslang Community Council on the town.
