A call for the region’s historic Riding of the Marches to be officially acknowledged by the Scottish Government as “culturally significant” has been welcomed by organisers.Each summer the boundaries are ridden on horseback in keeping with long-established traditions and spark celebrations in many communities including Dumfries Annan, Lockerbie, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet.And the well-loved events – which have been cancelled for this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic – are only able to continue because of year-long fundraising and organising by dedicated small committees of local volunteers.Now, Dumfriesshire constituency MSP Oliver Mundell wants the Scottish Government to provide additional support to ROMS and Common Ridings
