A bus firm is threatening to pull part of a Middleton service after vandals armed with 'knives, rocks and bullbearings' have caused damage costing thousands of pounds - and put passengers at risk.

Bosses at Diamond Bus North West say they may have to withdraw the Langley section of the 163 after around 10 attacks over the last month in which thugs have swooped in the evening to slash seats and smash windows on the new fleet of branded buses.The incidents on the service, which travels from Bury to Manchester via Heywood, Middleton, Langley and down Rochdale Road, have taken place in the evening as passengers travel home from work - and luckily nobody has been harmed.
