Inquest opens for 'hero' dad-of-seven who died after rescuing his children at sea

saving two of his kids at sea after getting into difficulty.Jonathan Stevens, 36, – a dad of seven – had been on a family beach trip with his kids, when two were caught in a riptide.The Telford dad was visiting Barmouth beach with the tragedy occurred on Sunday, August 2.Mr Stevens was able to pull his kids to safety, however, he was found unresponsive in the water later, the inquest heard on Monday.A major rescue operation was launched, with a lifeboat and Coastguard search and rescue helicopter dispatched.He was airlifted to hospital, but was sadly pronounced dead at around 3.15pm in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor that day.

The investigation in to Mr Stevens' death is still ongoing, reports Daily Record.The inquest held in Caernarfon has now been.
