The beginning of the Bundesliga season has been pushed back until at least May 16, giving Premier League bosses a dilemma. Top-flight German clubs had begun training again earlier this week with the hope that the season would restart on May 9, but the pushing back of a final decision means it will not be possible.
The earliest fixtures could now begin is May 16, with Chancellor Angela Merkel standing firm over the return of professional sport.
That could give Premier League chiefs time to reconsider their early proposal of a June restart, with another meeting set to be attended by all 20 clubs on Friday.
