Scotland deserves better than the Budget deal served up by Rishi Sunak, Labour's shadow chancellor has said. Writing for the Record, Rachel Reeves accused the Tory Government of "economic mismanagement" which will see workers facing soaring inflation and stagnant wages.
And the MP claimed Scots were now paying the price for "two bad governments" at Holyrood and Westminster. Reeves, who was appointed shadow chancellor in May by Keir Starmer, insisted Labour would "tax fairly" if the party was returned to power at the next general election.
She said voters were "tired of the smoke and mirrors, of the bluster, of the false dawns, of the promises of jam tomorrow".Today, we needed a Budget for a secure economy and a real recovery for Scotland.
