A former South Ayrshire Council leader is to be dumped by his party at the next election, Ayrshire Live can reveal.Hugh Hunter has been told he will NOT be selected to represent the Conservatives in Prestwick next May.The highly respected councillor – who has held his seat for 22 years – failed an internal selection by Tory HQ.He claimed the result has left local colleagues “stunned”.Mr Hunter revealed this week he is now considering a run as an Independent at next year’s ballot.The shock move comes as the Tories shape their team to try and regain control of the council on May 5.But Cllr Hunter, who led the authority between 2007-10 and is a party member of 25 years, has been dropped from the line up.He told Ayrshire Live: “It has come as a
