British Airways is reportedly planning to announce the suspension of around 36,000 staff. The airline has grounded the majority of its fleet due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And it has been negotiating with Unite union to reach an agreement, the BBC reports. It is understood they have come to a deal but have yet to sign it off.

Up to 80% of BA cabin crew, ground staff, engineers and those working at head office will reportedly have their jobs suspended.

However, no staff are expected to be made redundant. Among the employees affected are those at Gatwick and London City Airport.
