It’s 25 years since Bridget Jones’s Diary was first published as a newspaper column, followed by the novel of the same name about the antics of its delightfully clumsy, unlucky-in-love, Chardonnay-swilling, chain-smoking heroine.
Since then, the series has sold 15 million books and the films have raked in £525million at the box office. This month, author Helen Fielding denied a rumour that Mark Darcy was based on Labour leader Keir Starmer (although she thinks they are similar).
