Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he spoke with Ralf Rangnick on the phone during his years spent at Liverpool.
Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking last weekend, there was naturally an abundance of names linked with replacing Solskjaer at the helm at Old Trafford and Rodgers was among the bookies' favourites for the vacant position alongside Mauricio Pochettino.
However, United announced that they would move for an interim replacement instead and they appointed Rangnick on Monday. Rangnick has joined United on an initial six-month coaching deal and he'll move into a consultancy role after that for two years.
