Four years after she watched her partner Peter Falconio gunned down in cold blood in the middle of the Australian outback, Joanne Lees was in court to see his killer, Bradley Murdoch, jailed.
Joanne and Peter were travelling the world and had embarked on an epic road trip from Sydney to Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, and finally ending up in Brisbane.
They had already travelled to Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia before making their way to Sydney after setting off from the UK in November 2000.
It was a journey Peter would never finish after he was shot in the dead of the night on a deserted highway. Heartbreakingly, his body has never been found and Joanne had to return home alone without the man she loved.
