Black 'Friday' could last the entire month of November in effort to control crowds

Shops are planning to spread their "Black Friday" discounts out over an entire month, with Coronavirus measures restricting numbers in store and shoppers planning to stay home.

Black Friday officially falls on 27 November this year, but already major players have announced plans to spread it over far more than just a day to let more people shop safely.

A recent survey conducted by Contentsquare found that 91% of shoppers plan to avoid physical stores this Black Friday. The Black Friday period has been forecast to see 22% less spent overall, research by Wunderman Thompson Commerce found, but online spending set to surge as shoppers steer clear of in-store sales.
