Universal Credit claimants could see benefits slashed if planned DWP changes go ahead next month

Universal Credit in November could cost self-employed claimants hundreds of pounds a month, unless the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP chooses to delay it.

The benefit can be claimed by self-employed people who are struggling financially and need help supporting their business. Their claims are usually assessed by Minimum Income Floor (IMF) rules, however, the policy was amended at the end of March and a revision put in place for eight months.

These changes were introduced to help the self-employed who had been impacted by coronavirus, but that suspension is due to end on November 13, according to current laws.
