Billy Joe Saunders will pocket a career-high pay day just shy of £6m for his clash with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on May 2 in Las Vegas.
The WBO super-middleweight champion's clash with the Mexican superstar will finally be made official this week. Saunders, 30, has got the nod ahead of fellow Brit and WBA champion Callum Smith.
Both men accepted an offer of £5.9m ($7.75m) but it appears Alvarez has opted to take on the Hatfield southpaw. Scouser Smith said yes to the fight last Monday despite claims he turned down a bigger offer from Alvarez's team.
The WBA champion was awaiting a contract to be sent but has since been left in the dark and now believes to have missed out on a huge night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
