Britain's Got Talent contestant Nick Edwards has finally addressed why he had a microphone on his shirt prior to his huge surprise on the ITV show. The singer was one of the stand-out stars of Saturday's (April 16) opening episode as the talent series returned to our screens. An oblivious Nick was surprised by his children who applied on his behalf to perform on the ITV competition, where he was left in "complete shock".However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the contestant was already wearing a microphone on his shirt as they questioned whether Nick knew that the audition was going to take place.Explaining why he was wearing a microphone, Nick told Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond on Monday's (April 18) episode of This Morning: "When we went out for breakfast, my sister-in-law, who works in marketing, she said: 'Oh I've got these free tickets do you want to come and see it?"'We will kill some time, big things happening tonight, you're going to love the day.

It's brilliant."We sat in the audience, arrived and sat down, a lady came up to us and said: 'You're sitting in the Gogglebox chairs.

In-between acts, we scan to the audience, get their reactions and stuff.'"To which host Alison pointed out: "Obviously, there was a microphone there, so we could hear you."Nick replied: "I didn't think much of it, I thought it would be a bit of fun. "Then my mum [who is a dance teacher and examiner] came on stage and my initial reaction was she's going to get the girls to dance."He also explained that his family had brought down his guitar for the day and the producers handed it to him after the surprise reveal so he could audition with it.It comes after one baffled viewer tweeted on Saturday: "Nick had no idea why he was in the #BGT.
