Bernie Ecclestone claims 'in many cases black people are more racist than white'

Former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has played down racism within the sport and made the astonishing claim that "in many cases black people are more racist than white people".

In an extraordinary interview, the 89-year-old expressed his opinion that the fight for equality in F1 has never been taken seriously because there is too much of an emphasis on "winning races and findings sponsors".

Ecclestone's controversial comments come as British superstar Lewis Hamilton, who has been vocal throughout the Black Lives Matter movement and is the sport's only black driver, continues to spearhead his fight for change.
