Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”READ MORE: Charles to be proclaimed King live on TV for first time in historyAfter the news broke, the 61-year-old broadcaster was on standby in the BBC studios to deliver the devastating news to the nation.Since then, the Welsh newsreader has been flooded with praise from the millions of viewers who tuned in for the heartbreaking news up and down the country.Now, Alastair Campbell has revealed the dad-of-five had been preparing to deliver the morbid news months prior to her death in a lengthy post on Twitter.The journalist quote tweeted a post which shared his emotional broadcast on BBC One as he shared his thoughts on his colleague's deliverance online.He wrote: “@thehuwedwards told me a few months ago he had been preparing, practising and even rehearsing in front of his bathroom mirror for this moment for some time.“He said too that the Queen’s death would be the biggest challenge to @BBCNews in its history.
