BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent didn't hesitate to blast the Oscars 2022 for 'lack of security' during a discussion about Will Smith smacking Chris Rock in the face.

After Chris made a joke about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith - who is battling alopecia - resembling G.I. Jane, Will rose from his seat, smacked him across the face and returned to sit down.He then repeatedly yelled: "Keep my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth."On Tuesday (March 29), hosts Sally and Jon Kay were busy interviewing British comedian Alan Davies to get his perspective on the incident as someone who is regularly on-stage.And almost unsurprisingly, Alan turned out in support of Chris for the "unscripted" joke.He also slammed the Oscars' security team for their lack of action at the event, explaining: "What I thought was fascinating, being someone who is onstage often, is that where were the security?"I suppose he can just breeze through because he’s Will Smith, but you can imagine if someone is trying to get on stage at the Oscars, they’ll be taken down by some plainclothes person in a tuxedo carrying a sidearm in row two."He added: "You couldn’t get to Jeremy Kyle without being rugby tackled, so how on earth…"If someone did that in a comedy club, slapped the comedian, then sat back down and started swearing and yelling abuse at him - they’d be ejected.

I was amazed that he was able to return to his seat and pick up his prize."And Sally definitely appeared to agree with Alan, as she said at the end of the segment: "He makes a really good point - where was security?"If that had happened anywhere else - if you weren’t Will Smith - you’d be stopped."This is a live TV story and is constantly being updated. Please refresh the page regularly to.
